The Corporal moved cautiously down the narrow hall, the echo of his boots swallowed by the hum of the ship’s systems. Two doors faced each other halfway along the corridor, their sealed frames dark with scorch marks from earlier fighting.

The Corporal took one side, covering the first door, while the Lieutenant covered the second, both ready for whatever came through. The scent of ozone lingered in the air, a reminder that blaster fire had already passed this way. Somewhere beyond those doors, the enemy was moving, and the rebels had only seconds to prepare...
