The Captain’s boots pounded against the deck as he moved between the two sealed doors, his breath misting in the cold recycled air. The Lieutenant crouched by the first hatch, checking the manual release, while the Sergeant covered the second, eyes locked on the faint red glow bleeding from its edges. 

The Ensign knelt at a junction panel, frantically pulling wires in a desperate attempt to lock both doors down.  Then came the deep, resonant thud of something heavy striking from the other side. The Captain raised his blaster and shouted for his squad to hold position. They all knew it was only a matter of time before the corridor became a killing ground...
