I don’t know how we pulled it off, but somehow Hendrix and I slipped past that thing. I don’t even know what it was—massive, inhumanly strong. It tore through the miners on C Level like they were nothing. We shouldn’t have survived. Pure, dumb luck.

But now we’ve got a bigger problem: if we can’t get these ventilation fans working, we’re done. No air, no chance—we’ll suffocate down here, slow and choking. I honestly can’t decide which fate is worse.
