The Captain sat behind the darkened desk, the only light spilling from the display panels filled with tactical data and fractured star maps. The Commander stood nearby, reviewing reports while the steady vibration of the ship hummed through the bulkheads. The Lieutenant adjusted the console cutouts, piecing together sensor logs that painted a grim picture of enemy movement.

The Ensign recorded each order, eyes darting between the Captain, the fish and the screens as the mission briefing took shape. Outside the narrow viewport, the cold stars offered no comfort, only the reminder of how thin the line was between command and survival...
