The corridor turned sharply at a 45 degree angle, cutting visibility to just a few feet ahead. The walls were stained and dented. Lights flickered low. The Sergeant raised a fist and brought the squad to a stop. The Corporal moved forward slowly, motion tracker ticking faster with each step.

The Technician checked a power node mounted to the wall. Burned out. The Private covered the corner, weapon up. Then came the sound. A soft scuttling. Followed by silence. They did not like corners. Corners meant blind spots...
