The Sergeant moved quickly down the narrow straightaway, boots echoing against the durasteel deck. Behind him, the Corporal kept watch over their rear, blaster gripped tight. The dim service lights cast long shadows along the walls, broken only by the occasional flicker from a damaged conduit.

The Lieutenant scanned each maintenance hatch as they passed, searching for a manual override that could seal off the boarding party. Every step toward the engineering junction felt like a gamble, the kind where one wrong sound could mean the white-armored troops were already in the walls...
