The Captain stood outside the moonbase, its low structures half buried in dust beneath a pale, unforgiving sky. The Lieutenant scanned the perimeter, noting how the corridors stretched like exposed bones across the hostile landscape.

The Sergeant checked the air seals at the nearest entrance, uneasy at the silence where generators and voices should have been. Wind dragged fine grit across the hulls, erasing tracks as if the planet itself wanted the colony forgotten. On a world this dead, the empty base felt less abandoned and more like something waiting for them to step inside.
