The Captain entered the lounge, its wide viewing panels revealing the cold void beyond. The chamber was quiet, save for the low hum of dormant systems and the faint creak of the ship’s frame.
The Lieutenant moved toward the central table, its surface cluttered with scattered reports and flickering displays. The Sergeant lingered by the windows, scanning the blackness outside as if expecting something to move. A sudden pulse from the wall sensors broke the silence, casting sharp red light across the room.
OR
The Captain entered the observation lounge, the broad viewing ports casting pale starlight across the darkened chamber. The Commander stood near the central table, its display flickering with tactical readouts and static-ridden sensor scans. The Lieutenant leaned against the bulkhead, eyes fixed on the void beyond as if expecting an unseen threat to emerge.
The Ensign shifted uneasily, unsettled by the silence that hung heavier than the usual hum of the ship. Outside the glass, the stars seemed sharper, colder, as if watching them back.
