The Captain stepped into the sleeping quarters, the room still heavy with the cold haze of recent hypersleep cycles. The Lieutenant moved toward the lockers, peeling off stiff gear, every movement slow with exhaustion.

 The Sergeant checked the bunks, some still sealed, others open and empty in a way that did not feel right. The Corporal reached for a fresh uniform, pausing as a faint metallic scrape echoed from somewhere beyond the walls. After weeks in hypersleep, all they wanted was rest, but something else had woken with them...
