The Sergeant raised a hand as the corridor split in three. The resin was thick here, dripping from the ceiling in long strands like webbing. The Corporal swept his light across the branching paths. All led deeper, all lined with smaller egg sacks pulsing faintly under the glow of his lamp.

The Lieutenant whispered that the hive was bigger than Command expected. They weren’t at the edge. They were already inside. The motion tracker in the Technician’s grip clicked once. Then again. Movement on all sides...
