Corp Adent pushed through the blast doors into the central hub, the heart of the settlement now little more than a ruin of steel and smoke. The Captain followed, surveying the overturned crates and shattered consoles that once coordinated the colony’s lifeline. 

The Lieutenant took point up the metal stairs, the echo of his boots swallowed by the vast emptiness overhead. The Sergeant scanned the mezzanine railings where shadows twitched like living things waiting to strike.
