The Lieutenant slowed to a stop as the corridor ended in a sealed bulkhead, its surface scarred with deep scorch marks from recent combat. The Ensign came up beside him, tricorder humming as it confirmed no active systems beyond the wall. Overhead lights flickered weakly, casting jagged shadows across the deck plates, while the faint smell of burnt insulation clung to the recycled air.

A damaged conduit sparked intermittently near the floor, its glow briefly lighting the battered Federation emblem stenciled on the bulkhead. Behind them, the ship groaned under stress, and a distant metallic clang echoed through the passage. The dead end offered no path forward, only the uneasy thought of what might be closing in from behind...
