Blaster fire ripped through the smoke-filled hallway as the Lieutenant barked orders, directing the squad to hold the line. The Corporal knelt behind a fallen bulkhead panel, returning bursts toward the advancing troopers. The Ensign dragged an injured private into the cover of a side alcove, his shouts barely audible over the wail of the ship’s alarms.
Every inch of the corridor was a fight, the polished walls now scarred with burn marks and scattered debris. Somewhere beyond the haze, the Captain’s voice echoed over comms, promising reinforcements, but the squad knew they might not last that long...
