To the north, the Lieutenant and two privates formed a firing line, blasters aimed at the sealed bulkhead where sparks already showered from a breach in progress. To the east, the Sergeant’s team stacked crates into a barricade, while the Corporal and his partner crouched low to cover the west approach.

Every direction felt like a trap waiting to spring. The overhead lights flickered, casting shadows that danced along the durasteel walls. The rebels braced themselves—when the storm hit, it would come from all sides...
